Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Woe to the liars 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
