The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
