Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 And Allah hath made the earth unto you an expanse. 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
