He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
