Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah). 2 by the even and the odd, 3 and by the night when it moves on towards daybreak (reward and retribution in the next life is an absolute reality). 4 Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand? 5 Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad, 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 who all were insolent in the land 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Thy Lord unloosed on them a scourge of chastisement; 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. 16 Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! 17 And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! 18 And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, 22 And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! 27 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. 28 Join My servants. 29 Enter My Paradise." 30
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
