The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
