▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 3 of 3
۞ But nay! I swear by the falling of stars; 75 and that is a mighty oath, if you but knew 76 That this is indeed the glorious Qur'an 77 preserved in a hidden Book which 78 None may touch it, except with ablution. 79 A revelation by the Lord of the worlds. 80 How can you regard this discourse with disdain? 81 and do you make it your living to cry lies? 82 Why, then, when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 83 Whereas you watch at that moment! 84 (And We are nigher him than you, but you do not see Us) 85 Then why do you not, if you are exempt from the reckoning and recompense (punishment, etc.) 86 Bring it back, if you should be truthful? 87 Then, if he is one of the honoured, 88 there shall be calmness and ease, a Garden of Delight. 89 And if he is of those on the right, – 90 he will be welcomed by the words: “Peace to you” from the People on the Right. 91 And if he is from the deniers, the astray, – 92 its dwelling will be boiling water 93 And the roasting in Hell. 94 Most surely this is a certain truth. 95 So glorify the name of your Great Lord. 96
