The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
