The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
