The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
