In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 Whether of Justification or of Warning;- 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 When the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 and when the mountains are scattered like dust, 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 For a known term? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 The living and the dead, 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 “Move towards the shadow of the smoke having three branches.” 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 as black camels. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 40
