The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time]. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And yet, they [who deny the truth] say: "O thou unto whom this reminder has [allegedly] been bestowed from on high: verily, thou art mad! 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 So We make it enter the hearts of the sinners. 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend, 14 They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery." 15
