And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
