And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 If He willeth He causeth the wind to cease so that they keep still on the back thereof; verily therein are signs for every patient, grateful person. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 And for those who dispute regarding Our signs to realise; that they do not have a place to escape to. 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive, 37 And those who have responded to their lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend. 38 And those who, when they are oppressed vindicate themselves. 39 The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.). 40 And whosoever harms after he has been harmed there is no blame upon them. 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 And whosoever forbeareth and forgiveth - that verily is of the firmness of affairs. 43
