Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam – it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 And proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “I have received the divine revelation that ‘Had they remained upright on the straight path, We would have given them abundant water.’ 16 that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. 19
