Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 Warn the men. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 in Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
