Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
