The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
