The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
