۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
