Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
