The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
