The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
