Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
