The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
