The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
