The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
