The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
