۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
