S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past. 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. 10 They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. 11 Cried lies before them the people of Noah, and Ad, and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
