Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? 32 Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith. 33 So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful. 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain. 36 Or have they the treasures of your Lord with them? Or have they been set in absolute authority? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they become weighed down in debt? 40 Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? 41 Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know. 47 Wait patiently for the command of your Lord. We are watching over you. Glorify your Lord when you rise during the night 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
