20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
