He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
