The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
