The Wall (Al-Hujuraat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ O People who Believe! Do not advance ahead of Allah and His Noble Messenger, and fear Allah; indeed Allah is All Hearing, All Knowing. 1 Believers, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak loudly to him as you do to one another lest your works should be annulled without your knowledge. 2 Surely those who lower their voices in the presence of God's Messenger, those are they whose hearts God has tested for godfearing; they shall have forgiveness and a mighty wage. 3 Surely most of those who call out to you, (O Prophet), from behind the apartments, are devoid of understanding. 4 And had they had patience till thou camest forth unto them, it had surely been best for them; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 5 O you who believe! if an evil-doer comes to you with a report, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you have done. 6 And know that God's Apostle is among you: were he to comply with your inclinations in each and every case, you would be bound to come to harm [as a community]. But as it is, God has caused [your] faith to be dear to you, and has given it beauty in your hearts, and has made hateful to you all denial of the truth, and all iniquity, and all rebellion [against what is good]. Such indeed are they who follow the right course 7 as a favor and a blessing from God. God is All-knowing and All-wise. 8 And if two parties of the believers quarrel, make peace between them; but if one of them acts wrongfully towards the other, fight that which acts wrongfully until it returns to Allah's command; then if it returns, make peace between them with justice and act equitably; surely Allah loves those who act equitably. 9 The believers indeed are brothers; so set things right between your two brothers, and fear God; haply so you will find mercy. 10
