The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the Mountain, 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the Visited House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
