The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 it will be a hard day 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
