The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
