Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
