Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 And thou art an indweller of this city - 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Thinks he that none can overcome him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 Of a related orphan, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
