The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
