The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
