Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 He would drive you forth from your land; so what is it that ye enjoin? 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
