Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
