He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
