And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
