Evidence (of the truth) for them is how We revived the dead earth 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Holy is He Who created all things in pairs, whether it be of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 and [in] the moon, for which We have determined phases [which it must traverse] till it becomes like an old date-stalk, dried-up and curved: 39 It behoves not the sun to overtake the moon, neither does the night outstrip the day, each swimming in a sky. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them similar ships, in which they now ride. 42 And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said to them: “Spend (in the Way of Allah) out of the sustenance that Allah has provided you,” the unbelievers say to the believers: “Shall we feed him whom, Allah would have fed, had He so wished?” Say: “You are in evident error.” 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 and they will not even be able to make a testament, nor to return to their households. 50
