Messengers, eat what is wholesome and do good deeds: I am well aware of what you do. 51 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." 52 But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its belief. 53 So leave them immersed in their heedlessness till an appointed time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 We hasten unto them with good things (in this worldly life so that they will have no share of good things in the Hereafter)? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Surely those who tremble in fear of their Lord 57 And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 who give what they give, with their hearts quaking, that they will return to their Lord: 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. 64 (We shall say): 'Do not groan today, surely you shall receive no help from Us' 65 My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight, 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Have they not pondered the saying, or came there upon them that which came not upon their fathers, the ancients? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 And were the truth to follow their desires there would have been corrupted the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein. Aye! We have come to them with their admonition; so it is from their admonition that they turn away. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 and, most surely, you are calling them to a straight path. 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray, 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
