The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
