Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the finest, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
